GENERAL
The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (together with its subsidiaries,
"The Hartford", the "Company", "we", or "our") is a holding company for a group
of subsidiaries that provide property and casualty insurance, group benefits and
mutual funds to individual and business customers in the United States. In
December 2017, the Company announced the signing of a definitive agreement to
sell its life and annuity operating subsidiaries and, accordingly, the assets
and liabilities of those subsidiaries have been presented as held for sale with
results of operations from that business reflected as discontinued operations.

Consolidated Financial Statements. The Hartford is headquartered in Connecticut
and its oldest subsidiary, Hartford Fire Insurance Company, dates to 1810.
