Eagle Materials Inc., through its subsidiaries, (the Company, which may be
referred to as we, our, or us) is a leading manufacturer of heavy construction
materials and light building materials in the United States. Our primary
products, portland Cement and Gypsum Wallboard, are commodities that are
essential in commercial and residential construction; public construction
projects to build, expand, and repair roads and highways; and repair and remodel
activities. Demand for our products is generally cyclical and seasonal,
depending on economic and geographic conditions. We distribute our products
across many United States markets, which provides us with regional economic
diversification.
The Company was founded in 1963 as a building materials subsidiary of Centex
Corporation (Centex). It operated as a public company under the name Centex
Construction Products, Inc.
